22nd Travelling Docudays UA in Vinnytsia Region: Event Digest

From reflecting on our “rare resources” to addressing heavy and sensitive topics concerning democracy, memory, veteran policy, and the return of prisoners: we are glad to announce the programme with which the 22nd Travelling Docudays UA will visit the Vinnytsia Region!


Together with our regular partners, we are preparing more than thirty open events in the regional centre, as well as in Khmilnyk and Zhmerynka. Save this digest and come visit to co-create the events.


17 November, 2:00 p.m.

Vinnytsia. Press conference of the 22nd Travelling Docudays UA in the Vinnytsia Region from the co-organisers of the festival in the region: Khmilnyk District NGO PRAVO and NGO Unique Country.

22 November
2:00 p.m. — Opening of the Travelling Festival in Zhmerynka. Screening and discussion of the documentary Sanatorium by Gar O’Rourke.
Location: Hub of NGO Unique country


4:00 p.m. — Opening of the Travelling Festival in Khmilnyk. Screening of the documentary Sanatorium by the Irish director Gar O’Rourke, followed by an expert discussion. Announcement of a drawing competition for students of Khmilnyk lyceums on the subject of Rare Resource.

4:00 p.m.Zhmerynka. Screening and discussion of the documentary Where’s My Body Armor by Ukrainian director Daria Penkova.


4:40 p.m.Zhmerynka. Screening and discussion of the documentary A Land of Paper by French director Marion Boé.

Vinnytsia, 2:00 p.m. — Screening of the documentary Glass, My Unfulfilled Life by director Rogier Kappers from the Netherlands, followed by an expert discussion.

Zhmerynka, 2:00 p.m. — Screening and discussion of the documentary My Sextortion Diary by the Spanish director Patricia Franquesa.


3:30 p.m. — Screening and discussion of the documentary Last Song from Kabul by directors Kevin Macdonald and Ruhi Hamid.


4:30 p.m. — Screening and discussion of the documentary How I Spent My Summer Holidays? by director Antonio Lukich.


5:30 p.m. — Screening and discussion of the documentary Inside, the Valley Sings by director Nathan Fagan.


6:00 p.m. — Screening and discussion of the documentary My Sweet Child by Maarten de Schutter, director from the Netherlands.

24 November

Khmilnyk, 11:00 a.m. — Training on Participatory Democracy: How Can Community Residents Influence Decision-making by the Local Authorities? for the residents of the community. We will thoroughly examine the instruments of local democracy with a focus on those implemented in the Khmilnyk Territorial Community.


4:00 p.m. — Screening of the documentary A Land of Paper by French director Marion Boé, followed by an expert discussion.

25 November

Khmilnyk, 11:00 a.m. — World of Communities interactive game with the participation of a certified specialist for the city’s youth.


4:00 p.m. — Screening of the documentary Inside, the Valley Sings by director Nathan Fagan, followed by an expert discussion.


4:45 p.m. — Screening of the documentary How I Spent My Summer Holidays? by director Antonio Lukich, followed by an expert discussion.


5:30 p.m. — Screening of the documentary Where’s My Body Armor by Ukrainian director Daria Penkova, followed by an expert discussion.

Khmilnyk, 4:00 p.m. — Screening of the documentary My Sweet Child by director Maarten de Schutter, followed by an expert discussion.

Vinnytsia, 6:00 p.m. — Screening and discussion of the documentary Inside, the Valley Sings by director Nathan Fagan for veterans, their family members, and the families of fallen military personnel.

Location: Pobratym City Veteran Space in Vinnytsia.


27 November

Khmilnyk, 12:00 p.m. — Veteran Policy in the Community, a panel discussion with a presentation of providers of assistance to veterans, featuring representatives of local authorities, the veteran space, and civil society organisations.


4:00 p.m. — Screening of the documentary Glass, My Unfulfilled Life by director Rogier Kappers from the Netherlands, followed by an expert discussion.


Location: Murashnyk Resource Centre.


Vinnytsia, 5:00 p.m. — Screening of the documentary Witnesses. Captivity Kills by co-directors Maryna Kronhlevska and Tetiana Symon, as well as a discussion on the reintegration and rehabilitation of those freed from Russian captivity featuring Maksym Butkevych, a human rights advocate, journalist, and veteran with experience of captivity, Travelling Festival ambassador — for veterans, their family members, and the families of fallen military personnel.

28 November, Khmilnyk,

2:00 p.m. — Accessibility: Is a Ramp Enough?, a discussion featuring representatives of local authorities and civic initiatives, as well as active residents of the community.


4:00 p.m.
— Screening of the documentary My Sextortion Diary by the director Patricia Franquesa, followed by an expert discussion.

29 November, Khmilnyk, 

11:00 a.m. Recipe for Democracy interactive game with the participation of a certified specialist for the city’s youth.


4:00 p.m.
— Screening of the documentary Last Song from Kabul by directors Kevin Macdonald and Ruhi Hamid, followed by an expert discussion.


5:00 p.m. — Exhibition and announcement of the results of the drawing competition for students of Khmilnyk lyceums on the subject of Rare Resource: announcing the names of the three winners who will receive valuable prizes on the festival’s closing day.
