The light of cinema amid loss: How Docudays UA brings Mariupolians together in Dnipro
People from Mariupol who now live in Dnipro watched Daria Penkovaya's the documentary Where’s My Body Armor?, a candid story of a soldier who, after being wounded and undergoing treatment, tries to find his gear — a helmet and body armour that disappeared somewhere amid military bureaucracy, indifference, and the chaos of war.

At first glance, this may seem like a small episode, yet it reveals a deeper theme: how the war changes not only our values but also our very sense of justice, order, and human dignity.
After the screening, the audience took part in a discussion, reflecting on the film’s message and this year’s main theme of the Travelling Festival, Rare Resource.
Ms. Liudmyla, one of the participants, shared her thoughts:
“For me, this rare resource is my children, my grandchildren, my family. They are the ones who give me the strength to keep living.”

Her words became the throughline of the meeting, a reminder that the most valuable resource in the time of war is people. Those who endure, support one another, and preserve their humanity even in the darkest times.
The organizers expressed their gratitude to the YaMariupol. Dnipro center for their hospitality and for making it possible to hold the screening for the Mariupol community, who are keeping up their strength of spirit and faith in the restoration of their city.
