How to explore and reflect on your own experience of growing up? What does this experience look like for Mariupol teenagers? The auteur workshop by the artist and art therapist Maria Pronina aims to become a platform for conceptualizing this process by creating collages.

In her practice, Maria creates anti-discriminatory collages from regular waste paper: used printing paper, flyers and other materials which usually capture someone’s attention for a minute and then go into the garbage bin. The seemingly useless material becomes a tool for creating expressions and reflecting on individual experiences.

The workshop seeks to create a comfortable horizontal space where all the participants will have a chance to become immersed in exploration and to present their work. The participants’ works will be made into a zine available on the website of the Pryazovya Development NGO.

Facilitator / mentor: Maria Pronina, artist, art therapist, immigrant.

Mentor's assistant: Denis Pogrebny, illustrator, artist.

Workshop moderator: Vira Protskykh, coordinator of Travel Docudays UA in Mariupol.
