Bintou is a young dressmaker, living in Burkina Faso and dreaming of a career in Europe. Her clients are happy with her quick and low priced work, Bintou is happy to get acquainted with the European lifestyle. She leads a life between work, expats' parties and Sundays with her friends. She makes a video diary about her newest creations and loves chatting online in the internet café. But then she is told to take her seven-year-old daughter Christiane who had been living at a children’s home. That brings a lot of disorder to the fragile construct of her life. Finally she has to take the responsibility for her child... This strong young woman looks for her own way between traditional and modern culture, between motherhood and career.

Simone Catharina Gaul is a German journalist and director. She has worked at the Stuttgarter Zeitung since 2004. In 2004-2009 studied Romance and Political Studies at the Stuttgart and Sorbonne universities. After graduating, she started working at Film Academy in Baden-Wurttemberg. Simone has travelled a lot in Western Africa, where she met Bintou, the protagonist of her latest film. Her deep friendship with this woman and attempt to show the ‘lost continent of Africa’ as a continent of people, and not just catastrophes, hunger and war, are the background of the documentary.
