Press conference for the 20th anniversary of the Traveling Docudays UA!

04 October 2023

The Traveling International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, Docudays UA, is hitting the road across Ukraine! From October to December, the 20th-anniversary festival will begin in Poltava and journey through 22 regions. Screenings, discussions, and installations will also be held abroad for Ukrainian communities.

The press conference of the Traveling Festival will be held online on October 10 at 11:00.

Here are the key participants in the discussion:

  • Svitlana Smal, Executive Director of NGO Docudays UA
  • Kateryna Sinhurova, Guest Coordinator of the Traveling Docudays UA
  • Ksenia Shymanska, Director of the Human Rights Department at NGO Docudays
  • Ilona Korotitsyna, Director of the Vhoru Media Platform, presenting the film “Unconquered Kherson”
  • Dmytro Hreshko, Director of the film “King Lear: How We Looked for Love During the War”

The 20th Docudays UA's central theme is “The Image of the Future.” This topic urges us to envision and act on it now. This is a conversation about justice, the inevitable punishment for those guilty of war crimes, documenting their victims' testimonies and grave damage. It also touches on dealing with trauma and preserving the memories of relatives and friends lost in the war for future generations. Learn more about the concept of the Traveling Docudays UA in 2023 at the press conference.

The festival opens with the film “King Lear: How We Looked for Love During the War” by Dmytro Hreshko. It tells the story of internally displaced persons in Uzhhorod, staging a Shakespearean tragedy under local guidance.

You can interact with speakers, regional coordinators, and watch the opening film via a broadcast on the festival's Facebook page.
