22nd Travelling Docudays UA arrives to Ternopil Region: Events Digest
The Travelling Docudays UA in the Ternopil region is always lively and rich with events. This autumn, it kicks off on 13 October in Zalishchyky, and during its first week, it will also visit Husiatyn, Zavodske, Chortkiv, and Ternopil — with over two dozen events held both live and online.
We have two enthusiastic regional coordinators in the region, so for now, we are announcing only part of the programme — from the NGO Green World. Save this digest, attend the screenings, and follow our updates. There’s more to come!
13 October
Zalishchyky. Festival opening at the Zalishchyky State Gymnasium. Screenings of short documentary films for the gymnasium students
10 am — Screening and discussion of the documentary Last Song from Kabul by directors Kevin Macdonald and Ruhi Hamid.
11 am — Screening and discussion of the documentary How I Spent My Summer Holidays by Ukrainian director Antonio Lukich.
12 pm — Screening of the documentary Inside, The Valley Sings by Irish director Nathan Fagan, followed by a lecture.
These three events will be moderated by Vasyl Diakiv, Deputy Director of the Zalishchyky State Gymnasium, Honoured Teacher of Ukraine, winner of the national Global Teacher Prize Ukraine (2020), and veteran of the Afghan War.
1 pm — Special festival event 50 Years of the Helsinki Final Act: History, Present, Prospects — an author’s presentation dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the Helsinki Final Act of the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe, delivered by Oleksandr Stepanenko, regional coordinator of the Travelling Docudays UA in Ternopil, public figure, local historian, publicist, Head of the NGO Helsinki Initiative–XXI, and member of the Board of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union (UHHRU).
14 October
10 am — Screening and discussion of the documentary Last Song from Kabul by Kevin McDonald and Ruhi Hamid.
12 pm — Screening and discussion of the documentary How I Spent My Summer Holidays by Antonio Lukich.
2 pm — Screening of the documentary Inside, The Valley Sings by Nathan Fagan, followed by a lecture.
3 pm — Special festival event 50 Years of the Helsinki Final Act: History, Present, Prospects by Oleksandr Stepanenko.
15 October
3 pm, online — Conference for employees of the Western Regional Centre for the Provision of Free Secondary Legal Aid: screening of the documentary A Land of Paper by French director Marion Boé, followed by a discussion with Iryna Khondohiy, Director of the Western Centre of Free legal aid, and Maria Hambal, Director of the South-Western Department of Free legal aid.
4:30 pm — Special event 50 Years of the Helsinki Final Act: History, Present, Prospects at the Western Regional Centre of Free legal aid by Oleksandr Stepanenko.
16 October
Zavodske village. Short Film Day at the Chortkiv Higher Vocational School for students.
9 am — Screening and discussion of the documentary Last Song from Kabul by Kevin McDonald and Ruhi Hamid.

7 pm, online — History of Border Towns: Fiume — Rijeka, Lemberg — Lviv, Chernovits — Chernivtsi, Tarnopol — Ternopil. Screening and discussion of the documentary Fiume O Morte! by Croatian director Igor Bezinović.
18 October
Chortkiv, 4 pm — Event Chortkaver’s Great-Grandson Is Named Rugir: screening of the documentary Glass — My Unfulfilled Life by Dutch director Rogier Kappers, followed by a discussion with musician, artist, theatre director, and teacher of the Chortkiv Music School Ostap Baranovskyi — at the Library on Zelena Street.
19 October
7 pm, online — Screening and discussion of the documentary Glass — My Unfulfilled Life by director Rogier Kappers.
20 October
Ternopil. Open events at the Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University named after V. Hnatyuk.
11 am — Special festival event 50 Years of the Helsinki Final Act: History, Present, Prospects — lecture by Oleksandr Stepanenko.
12 pm — Event Educator, Lawyer, Psychologist: How to Prevent Violence on the Internet at the Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University. Screening of the documentary My Sextortion Diary by Spanish director Patricia Franqesa and discussion with Dr of Pedagogical Sciences Svitlana Kalaur, Professor at the University; Taisia Rubanyak, lawyer and head of the NGO 4Women; and Yulia Vorobel, psychologist and head of the NGO 4Women.
21 October
Ternopil. Open events at the Ternopil Regional Universal Scientific Library.
11 am — One Human Life out of 298: screening and discussion of the documentary My Sweet Child by Dutch director Maarten de Schutter.
12 pm — Special festival event Fiat iustitia — Let Justice Be Done: legal commentary on the historic judgment of the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights in the inter-state case Ukraine and the Netherlands v. Russia (9 July 2025), concerning the criminal downing of flight MH17.
3 pm — It Is Important to Remember: screening and discussion of the documentary Fiume O Morte! by Croatian director Igor Bezinović.
