Liubov Durakova
Alisa is 26 years old when the revolution starts on the Maidan. Like many film-makers, she begins to film the important events taking place in her country. But soon, the distance between the camera and the reality will shrink, and life and death will become more important than just a film. Alisa will find herself spending two years at the epicenter of the turmoil, from Independence Square in Kyiv to the check-points of Sloviansk and to the ruins of Donetsk airport. It is also the journey and personal diary of a Ukrainian girl and documentary maker confronted with the same choices and dilemmas as those of her countrymen and -women, when personal life meets history.
Alisa Kovalenko was born in 1987 in Zaporizhia, Ukraine. Studied journalism at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and documentary filmmaking at the Kyiv National Karpenko-Kary Theatre, Film, and Television University. In 2015 she won a Gaude Polonia scholarship to study documentary filmmaking at the Andrzej Wajda School in Warsaw.

In 2015 she won a Gaude Polonia scholarship to study documentary filmmaking at the Andrzej Wajda School in Warsaw.
